Now I officially can draw something! :D

  • Playing: NFS Most Wanted, Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri
Classes are finally over, and now that I finished my artistic drawing class, officially I can actually draw something! :D

Two entries ago, I said how much I wanted to have a good time at drawing class, and in college overall. Well, overall, I did NOT had a good time because it was really damn tough! :censored:

DSP: actually easy, the mathematical shit was even easier than in signal transmission the last semester, but the final projects were damn tough: first, spend 4 Saturday mornings at school learning how to use an audio DSP (in English, an audio processor), which means learning how the CPU works and getting really physical with it, and then, try to make an audio equalizer only to find out the DSP fails so fucking hard it can't even run a 5-band, 5-level equalizer.

Linux: it was easy, but really lengthy. If you're already used to programming, configuring Linux the hard way is not as hard as it seems: just make sure your configuration files are correct, make sure the syntax is right, know what each line is for, and that's it. As for the command line, you do have to get used to it, it really helps to take internetworking the previous semester because they make you use Cisco Systems routers, and that means learning how to use the CIOSS command line, which is actually easier than the Linux command line; but once you get used to it, it's easy shit. The hard part is knowing how the services work (that means reading a lot), and finding out how to configure them without having the teacher tell it to you... just ask me how it's like to configure an e-mail server while the teacher is in Canada doing his final Ph.D. tests :ambulance:

Local area networks: god damn, THAT was a tough one! :headache: Imagine having to do all the Cisco Systems CCNA exams your internetworking teacher never did the last semester, all of that while writing a long paper every single motherfucking class! And on top of that, the final practice is about plugging up a LAN network with everything a professional LAN needs, including DHCP for multiple VLANs... we had no fucking clue of how to do it, and I actually managed to hit the desk with all my strength while screaming "GRAB THE MOTHERFUCKING ADDRESS, YOU FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT MACHINE!!!!!".

Info tech: the easiest class I've ever been. I aced it with both hands tied. The teacher fell in love with me! :D When she was checking jobs, she would say "Learn from Engineer Acoyani, the best student from my class! He's better than you and he's in telecommunications, not social communication!". It really helps that I do my homework with an engineer's mindset. Social communication is like "I'll do the homework if I feel like it", but electronics, computer, and telecommunications, all these three are like "I do the homework 'cause I fucking gotta do it and they will smite me with the force of an angry god if I don't!".

Visual BASIC: same as DSP, easy, but lengthy final project. :headache: There I was, sitting at the computers building, coding an Encyclopedia Metallum-like lyrics directory, for 7 hours overall including a 1 hour break. Thank God, it really helped a lot that I took 2 years of Visual BASIC 6 in high school, at the Instituto de Ciencias (where Guillermo del Toro and my friend ~Yetzimarie come from ^^).

Finally, artistic drawing: I took this class hoping I would have a good time drawing. I lagged behind real hard with my drawings because of all the jobs I had to do on my other subjects, but the best part of everything was that this class did fulfilled my expectations. I did had an awesome time drawing everything I had to draw. :D We did had to buy our own stuff, though, and that stuff was expensive, but it was really worth it. My drawing skills suddenly went from none to at least decent, as you can see from the rough Dodge Challenger in my gallery (note to self: CORRECT THAT MOTHERFUCKING DRAWING!!!), and after 4 years of trying, trying, trying, and suffering because the guys at Deviantart and Minitokyo have some damn good skills while I had zilch, I can finally say: I have learned to draw. Thus ended 4 years of personal struggle, and they ended in the most awesome way imaginable.
